Sheu Buka jailed for supplying goats to Boko Haram after Federal High Court Abuja conviction for supporting terrorists in Borno State

In Abuja, Nigeria, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Federal High Court has sentenced Sheu Buka, a father of three, to 20 years imprisonment for supplying goats to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Binta Fatima Nyako after Buka was found guilty following his admission of the offence during court proceedings.

During the trial, Buka admitted both in his extra-judicial statement and in open court that he committed the offence.

Although he initially denied four other charges, the Federal Government withdrew those counts and proceeded with the remaining charge, on which the court ultimately based its conviction.

In reaching its decision, the court considered the defendant’s confessional statement, his in-court admission of guilt, and the investigation report presented by the prosecution.

These factors collectively established his involvement beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Nyako rejected a plea for leniency made by the convict, stressing that terrorism remains a significant security concern across the country.

The court described any form of support to terrorist groups as a serious offence that must be firmly addressed.

Sheu Buka Jailed for Supplying Goats to Boko Haram as the court emphasised that material assistance to insurgent groups contributes to sustaining their operations and undermines national security efforts.
