Six Abducted Ondo Worshippers Freed after ₦9M ransom; police advise churches to suspend night services amid rising security concerns

Six worshippers abducted from a Celestial Church in Uso community, Owo Local Council Area, have regained their freedom following the payment of ₦9 million in ransom.

The release occurred on Monday night in Ilado community, Akure North Local Council Area of Ondo State.

The victims include five pregnant women and one physically challenged person, prompting concerns from security officials about the vulnerability of religious centres.

Adebowale Lawal, the state Commissioner of Police, confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the abduction.

Police expressed alarm that the church premises had been used in a manner akin to a maternity centre, and subsequently advised religious centres to suspend night worship services amid ongoing security challenges in the state.
