Tomori AC Milan return confirmed as Fikayo Tomori is reintegrated into the squad after the transfer window closed

England international Fikayo Tomori has received a positive boost at AC Milan, with the defender set to return to the first-team squad after the club decided to retain him following the close of the transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported the development on Thursday, September 3, 2026, stating that Milan had informed Tomori and his representatives of the decision to reintegrate him into the squad.

The decision marks a significant change in Tomori’s situation after the defender had been made available for transfer during the summer window.

Reports had linked the 28-year-old with a possible move away from San Siro, with Fulham among the clubs reported to have shown interest.

Tomori had reportedly been among the players Milan were prepared to move on before the transfer deadline. However, with the window now closed, the club has opted to bring him back into the fold.

The development means Tomori will once again be available to AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim as the club continues its 2026/27 campaign.

Football Italia previously reported that Tomori had resisted efforts to sell him and that Milan were expected to welcome him back into Amorim’s squad after the transfer window.

Tomori joined Milan permanently from Chelsea in 2021 after an initial loan spell and has since established himself as an important defensive figure at the Italian club. He signed a contract extension in 2022 that runs until June 2027.

His return could therefore provide Milan with additional defensive depth as the season progresses, while also giving Tomori an opportunity to revive his position within the squad.

For now, the decision brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding Tomori’s immediate future and gives the defender a fresh opportunity to compete for a place in Milan’s starting XI.
