Wike blasts political appointees who turn against him, warning against disloyalty and urging unity among PDP and APC stakeholders

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to political appointees who turn against the leadership that facilitated their appointments, describing such actions as a betrayal of trust and a failure of character.

Speaking during a gathering of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders at his residence in Life Camp, Abuja, Wike expressed concern over individuals who, after benefiting from political support, later criticise or undermine the same structure that elevated them.

Wike blasts political appointees formed a central theme of his remarks as he cautioned against disloyalty within political circles.

He emphasised that the strength of the current political arrangement lies in unity and mutual cooperation among stakeholders, warning that internal divisions could weaken their collective progress.

The minister noted that some individuals are uncomfortable with the growing collaboration between members of the PDP and APC, suggesting that external forces may be attempting to create discord among allies.

He stressed that maintaining cohesion is essential to sustaining their shared political influence.

Wike further addressed concerns about ambition-driven conflicts, urging stakeholders to avoid rushing into endorsements or actions that could fracture the group. He reiterated that the group’s alignment is not driven by financial interests but by shared commitment and strategic coordination.

In his remarks, Wike also clarified that no endorsements have been made at the state level for upcoming political contests, stating that the only publicly recognised endorsement remains at the presidential level.

He reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while emphasising consistency between his public statements and private positions.

The minister commended party leaders, council chairmen, and elders for their efforts in fostering cooperation, noting that the absence of complaints at the meeting reflected the success of their collaborative approach.

Wike concluded by reiterating his stance on loyalty and transparency, warning that individuals who benefit from political goodwill but later act against it would not succeed in their pursuits, as trust and unity remain central to political stability.
