Akwa Ibom cultist arrest leads to discovery of human skull and vandalised electric items as police detain Pius Pius following credible intelligence in Abak

An Akwa Ibom cultist arrest has led to the shocking discovery of a human skull and vandalised electrical components, according to police authorities in the state.

The suspect, 40-year-old Pius Pius, was arrested on Sunday evening at No. 80 School Road by Oku Abak in Abak Local Government Area. His arrest followed credible intelligence gathered by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Monday.

“On July 20, 2025, operatives of the Command arrested a suspected cultist and vandal suspect who specialises in the vandalism of feeder transformers and public electric cables within Abak LGA and its environs,” she stated.

“At approximately 6:55 PM, police operatives proceeded to the location and apprehended one Pius Pius, a 40-year-old male.”

The suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of the Iceland Confraternity, a cult group linked to the destruction of public infrastructure.

A search of his residence uncovered several items, including a human skull, a transformer step-down insulator, a circuit breaker, an electric meter, and multiple fuses.

DSP John assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that updates will be provided as developments unfold.
