The commissioner of police led a heartfelt initiative that saw a total of nearly 47 million naira handed over to relatives of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

This generous act, facilitated under the Group Life and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, demonstrates a powerful commitment by the Nigerian Police Force to support those left behind.

Commissioner Baba Azare praised Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for spearheading this crucial welfare programme, which ensures that the sacrifices made by officers are recognised and remembered.

During the ceremony at the State Headquarters in Uyo, Baba Azare also honoured newly promoted officers, urging them to embrace their increased responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.

“The reward for hard work is more work,” he reminded them, emphasising the need to shun corruption and maintain high standards.

Families receiving the compensation expressed deep gratitude, acknowledging the vital support during difficult times.

This move echoes similar efforts across other states, such as Anambra, where the police command has also provided significant welfare payments.
