Expressing gratitude to Comrade Grace Ike and the entire NUJ executive, she reflected on a long journey that began in her teenage years when she was elected Publicity Secretary of NUJ BTV (now EBS) Benin Chapel.

“I never imagined that almost 40 years later, I would be called back into unionism and honoured like this,” she said.

Despite earning many accolades over the years, she described this one as her most treasured. It comes from her professional family—a recognition of her life’s dedication to journalism.

She recalled the sacrifices: sleepless nights, relentless deadlines, and working days without rest, driven purely by passion. “Journalism made me grow up overnight,” she stated. “We lived in the newsroom, running on adrenaline, driven by the story.”

Danisa marvelled at the profession’s evolution, from manual cut-and-paste editing to the era of artificial intelligence. “I thank God El Roi—for keeping me alive to witness this transformation.”

Known as the Queen of the Tabloids, she embraces the title with pride. “Journalism is not moin moin. It’s not for the faint-hearted. It demands everything and I gave it all. I’m still giving my best,” she affirmed.
