Shettima UN Food Systems Summit: Nigerian VP joins global leaders in Ethiopia to push for resilient, inclusive food systems and climate-smart agriculture

Shettima UN Food Systems Summit participation underscores Nigeria’s growing commitment to global food security and sustainable agriculture as Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He will represent Nigeria at the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit, scheduled from July 27 to 29.

In a post on his official X handle, Shettima confirmed his attendance, stating he would join other world leaders to drive discussions on transforming food systems and fostering global cooperation.

The Shettima UN Food Systems Summit agenda includes key sessions on building resilient, inclusive, and climate-smart food systems. It also aims to review progress made since the inaugural summit in 2021 and push forward critical reforms.

Shettima is expected to engage in high-level panels on advancing Africa’s coffee value chain and implementing sustainable farming practices.

He will also participate in ministerial roundtables, networking sessions, and field trips that highlight real-world examples of food systems transformation.

Discussions will cover public finance, trade, and responsible investment powerful tools  for unlocking long-term agricultural progress across Africa.
