The victims 55-year-old Mrs. Chinyere Anaene, a nurse at Clear Hope Foundation Academy, and one-year-two-month-old Nanenter Yese were reported missing on July 23.

A shocking twist came when Anaene’s husband received a ₦250 million ransom demand via her phone while at the police station to file a missing person report.

SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, said the Anti-Kidnapping Unit responded swiftly, deploying digital forensic tools to trace the source of the communication. Their investigation led them to Yelwa and Uke communities in Nasarawa State.

According to the confession, the suspect lured Mrs. Anaene to a bathroom within the school premises and strangled her to death. He then took the toddler from a classroom and killed him in the same brutal manner.

The suspect hid both bodies in a sack, transported them in a scavenger’s cart, and dumped them in a canal, where police later recovered the decomposed remains.
