A woman dies in Abuja after visiting her boyfriend; authorities investigate incident at Dei-Dei as circumstances surrounding death remain unclear

A woman identified as Esther has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend in the Dei-Dei area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

A resident, Dauda, told reporters that Esther left home in the afternoon to visit her boyfriend, informing her sister that she was going to a bank.

Later that evening, her elder brother received a call from a man claiming to be her boyfriend, stating that Esther had eaten food at his residence, began vomiting, and was subsequently taken to Kubwa General Hospital, where she died.

Dauda added that the boyfriend’s phone, as well as Esther’s, has since been switched off, and no contact details were provided for verification.

The Federal Capital Territory Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.

Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh said, “We are aware of the incident and we are investigating.”

Authorities have appealed to anyone with information to come forward to assist in clarifying the circumstances surrounding Esther’s death.
