Kebbi kidnapping arrest sees three suspects detained and weapons recovered following operation in Shanga Local Government Area

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested three men allegedly involved in a kidnapping operation in Shanga Local Government Area, recovering locally made weapons in the process.

Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed the arrests on Friday, stating that the suspects—Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo, and Ali Alhaji Jemu—were apprehended at Bagudo Market following credible intelligence.

The trio have been linked to the abduction of a 55-year-old man from Bani Koso Village. “Two locally made firearms, a cartridge and three machetes were recovered,” Usman added.

Commissioner of Police Umar Mohammed Hadejia has directed that the case be handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi. The suspects are to be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.

The Command also urged residents to report suspicious activities through its control room lines to aid in the prevention of criminal activity.

Separately, the Lagos State Police Command recently uncovered a den disguised as a shrine in the Idimu area, arresting 13 suspects in connection with suspected kidnapping activities.
