Alara of Ilara Coronation Anniversary marks 5 years of peace, progress, and development in Epe, Lagos with a grand 3-day celebration and chieftaincy titles

Alara of Ilara Coronation Anniversary celebrations are sweeping through Ilara Kingdom in Lagos State as His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), marks five illustrious years on the throne.

Set in the lush and tranquil town of Ilara, Epe Division, the Alara of Ilara Coronation Anniversary will run from August 15 to 17, 2025, with a series of power-packed events that honour the monarch’s legacy of peace and progress.

The celebration kicks off on Friday, August 15, with a dual-purpose programme: an empowerment session and free medical outreach for locals in the morning, followed by a Jumat prayer session in the afternoon.

Saturday, August 16, marks the highlight of the anniversary at the palace, where seven distinguished individuals and couples will receive honorary chieftaincy titles.

Among the honourees are Prof. John Obafunwa (Balogun), Surveyor Jelili Olayemi (Olotu), and Prof. Kemi Pinhero (Baamofin).

Ambassador Oluwatoyin and Mrs. Abiodun Lawal will be installed as Bobagunwa and Yeye Bobagunwa respectively.

Others to be honoured include Dr. Olanrewaju Obasa, Chief Akinyele and Mrs. Toyin Oladeji, as well as Barrister Rotimi and Mrs. Olayemi Edu.

The festivities conclude on Sunday, August 17, with a thanksgiving mass at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a royal banquet in honour of a ruler who continues to inspire development and unity.

A former Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Oba Ogunsanwo has skillfully merged tradition with leadership, leveraging his expertise to transform Ilara into a model kingdom.
