CEDHAR rural advocacy initiative aims to empower women, children, and PWDs in Nigeria with access to justice, healthcare, and inclusive development

CEDHAR rural advocacy is making a strong debut in Nigeria with a mission to uplift the rights and dignity of rural women, children, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The Centre for Development, Health and Rights (CEDHAR) announced its launch over the weekend, unveiling a people-first approach to social justice, health, and development.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Moses Omidiora, the grassroots non-governmental organisation said it is committed to dismantling entrenched cycles of marginalisation in underserved communities.

“We are here to challenge systems of exclusion, promote grassroots empowerment, and work hand-in-hand with communities, institutions, and policymakers to uphold human dignity and opportunity for all,” Omidiora said.

CEDHAR rural advocacy integrates legal aid, community organising, policy engagement, and human rights education into its thematic programs.

These include access to justice, gender equality, economic inclusion, youth development, and good governance.

The organisation said it places special focus on people-centered and justice-driven interventions, reflecting its belief in local ownership and sustainability.

CEDHAR’s goals also include promoting equitable healthcare, building economic self-reliance through social entrepreneurship, and expanding legal and social access for PWDs.

“Our vision is to see a world where all people, regardless of status, can enjoy their rights, access quality healthcare, and live in dignity,” the statement read.

Going forward, the organisation will build strategic partnerships with both government and civil society stakeholders.

It promises ongoing grassroots advocacy that empowers communities from the bottom up.
