The Enugu State women empowerment project is making significant progress as the government signs a Subsidiary Loan Agreement to support the Nigeria for Women Project.

This marks a clear commitment from Governor Dr. Peter Mbah’s administration to elevate the economic status of women across the state.

Backed by the World Bank and implemented via the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, the initiative is designed to improve livelihoods through financial services access, capacity building, and targeted support for women-led businesses.

Commissioner Ngozi Enih stressed the administration’s dedication to gender equality and inclusive growth.

“By signing this agreement and remitting the Counterpart Fund, we are investing in the potential of Enugu women to thrive and contribute to the economy,” she said.

The project will kick off activities such as the formation of Women Affinity Groups, grants disbursement, and training on financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

State Project Coordinator Blessing Ogbonna hailed the government’s visionary leadership, highlighting the program as a turning point for women’s empowerment in Enugu.
