Nigeria condoles with Ghana over helicopter crash that killed Defence Minister Edward Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Muhammed, and others

The Nigerian Government has expressed deep sorrow over the Ghana helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several senior officials, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Muhammed.

In a statement issued Thursday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the government extended heartfelt condolences to Ghana, describing the loss as a tragedy for the entire West African region.

“This devastating incident has robbed Ghana of distinguished public servants and created a profound void in the West African region,” Ebienfa said.

He praised Boamah’s contributions to regional security and Muhammed’s efforts in environmental sustainability, noting that both leaders’ work would be sorely missed.

“Nigeria stands in solidarity with Ghana during this period of immense grief and prays for strength to bear the loss,” the statement added.

The officials were en route to Obuasi on Wednesday when the helicopter went down, leaving the nation in mourning and prompting condolences from across the continent.
