JAMB warns that tertiary institutions failing to submit their matriculation lists will not have admissions for 2024 and 2025 approved, threatening sanctions for non-compliance

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to tertiary institutions across Nigeria, declaring that it will not approve admissions for the 2024 and 2025 academic sessions for schools that fail to submit their matriculation lists.

The directive, delivered by JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede during a meeting with Admissions Desk Officers, follows a Federal Ministry of Education mandate aimed at curbing illegal admissions in the country’s higher institutions.

“Institutions that fail to submit their matriculation list for the 2022 and 2023 admissions should not have their admissions approved for the 2024 and 2025 admission exercises,” Oloyede said, according to the board’s bulletin.

While a concession is being granted for the ongoing 2024 admissions cycle, Oloyede stressed that all institutions must comply once the process concludes.

He warned that JAMB would make “erring institutions scapegoats” and apply appropriate sanctions to be announced later.

As part of enforcement measures, defaulting schools including affiliate institutions will be summoned to face penalties alongside their parent institutions.

The board also plans to place adverts in major newspapers to publicly notify institutions of the sanctions.

Admission Desk Officers have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the directive.

When contacted, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin confirmed that the list of non-compliant institutions will be made available to the press once compiled.
