Hilda Baci cleans her giant jollof rice pot herself ahead of her Guinness World Record attempt, assuring fans it’s squeaky clean and ready for use

Hilda Baci jollof rice pot hygiene has taken centre stage ahead of her upcoming Guinness World Record attempt, as the celebrity chef personally cleaned the giant six-metre-wide cooking vessel.

The Nigerian culinary star took to Instagram to share a video of herself scrubbing the massive pot with branded detergent in preparation for the historic cooking marathon, set to take place at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

In a video that has since gone viral, Baci, clad in cleaning gear, climbed into the enormous pot and gave it a thorough wash.

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she declared.

The Hilda Baci jollof rice pot will soon serve thousands of portions of Nigeria’s iconic dish in what she calls a celebration of Nigerian culinary heritage.

Addressing curious viewers, Hilda explained her unexpected position inside the pot.

“I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot? The reason I’m inside the pot at this moment is because I need to wash the pot.”

She went on to add that after draining the liquid, she would rinse the interior and clean it once more using brand new mop sticks, ensuring the pot meets top hygiene standards before any cooking begins.

The chef’s latest venture follows her globally recognised Guinness World Record feat for the longest cooking marathon in 2023.

This new jollof rice attempt is set to draw massive crowds and online viewership, with thousands of servings expected to be cooked in one pot.

“In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian jollof history in the making,” she said.

Fans and fellow chefs have praised her commitment to cleanliness and professionalism. Some even dubbed her “the queen of Nigerian cuisine,” while others expressed excitement about witnessing what could become yet another Guinness World Record.
