African Democratic Congress condemns INEC for recognising David Mark-led faction, insisting legal proceedings must determine party leadership

In a statement issued after an emergency joint meeting of the NWC and NEC in Abuja, the party accused INEC of undermining its leadership and threatening Nigeria’s democratic foundations.

The ADC described the commission’s posting of the Mark faction on its official portal as raising “significant questions about the commission’s neutrality and credibility.”

The party urged members to remain calm and united, stressing that it would not allow “idle politicians” to hijack its platform.

ADC has filed a suit at the Federal High Court against INEC and certain individuals, seeking to overturn the recognition and restore its mandate.

“The ADC prioritises peace and stability and is committed to protecting the integrity of our party,” the communiqué stated.

“We implore INEC to exercise maturity and await the court’s decision before making further pronouncements regarding party leadership.”

The statement also linked opportunistic political tactics to broader national issues, including economic stagnation, insecurity, and corruption, while vowing to defend the party’s principles and values.
