Abubakar Malami DSS interrogation follows convoy attack in Kebbi, as the ex-AGF alleges political rivals orchestrated the petition

The incident occurred on 1 September 2025, when Malami’s convoy was ambushed by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi shortly after he attended a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Monday, Malami revealed that he honoured the Department of State Services’ invitation to clarify details surrounding the attack.

“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services, DSS, to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025,” he wrote.

Malami suggested the petition that led to the inquiry was politically motivated, claiming it was instigated by opposition figures in Kebbi. Despite this, he praised the DSS for what he described as a professional and transparent approach.

“I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” he added.

The DSS has yet to release details of its findings, but the case underscores the tense political atmosphere in Kebbi as rival camps trade accusations amid escalating security concerns.
