Lookman returns for Atalanta

Lookman returns for Atalanta against Juventus after failed summer transfer saga, with coach Juric confirming his availability

The winger, who made a late substitute appearance in last weekend’s draw against Torino, has been gradually reintegrated into the squad following a turbulent summer marked by transfer drama.

Juric, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, said both Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere would be available. “We will have De Ketelaere with us tomorrow,” he explained.

“He’s training well, and slowly, we will try to get him back to full strength.”

The 27-year-old Lookman had agitated for a move away during the transfer window, with Inter Milan showing interest before withdrawing due to his valuation.

Matters soured when the forward accused Atalanta’s management of unfair treatment on social media and left for the United Kingdom to train alone.

With no deal secured, he made a surprise return to Bergamo just five days before the new season, later addressing his teammates and Juric about the saga.

The coach revealed after the Torino game that Lookman had admitted to receiving poor advice, but praised his winning mentality.

Italian reports suggest Atalanta consider the matter closed and intend to keep him at least until the end of the season, ruling out a January sale.
