VeryDarkMan condemns Mercy Johnson over the arrest of TikToker Eedie Bliss, calling defamation a civil matter and urging court action

Popular Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly condemned Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie over the arrest and detention of TikTok content creator Eedie Bliss, accusing the actress of abusing police powers in a defamation dispute.

The criticism followed the arrest of Eedie Bliss in Abuja after a petition was reportedly filed by Mercy Johnson Okojie’s husband, Prince Henry Okojie, over allegations circulated on social media in December 2025.

The rumours claimed that Prince Henry Okojie had bought a mansion for another woman allegedly pregnant for him outside his marriage, claims that were never officially confirmed.

Reacting to the rumours at the time, Eedie Bliss cited gossip blog Cutie Juls as her source and went further to allege that Mercy Johnson Okojie connived with the woman’s house help to cause a miscarriage.

The allegations triggered widespread controversy online.

The subsequent arrest of the TikTok creator sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians questioning why only Eedie Bliss was targeted while the original source of the claims was not similarly addressed.

The debate quickly escalated across social media platforms.

In a series of posts and videos, VeryDarkMan condemned the arrest and accused the actress of double standards.

He argued that defamation is a civil matter and should be resolved through the courts rather than through police detention.

VeryDarkMan also recalled a previous incident in which Mercy Johnson Okojie criticised the arrest of Sammy Nwoko, the brother of actress Regina Daniels, who was detained following a defamation petition filed by her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko. He described the contrast as troubling and unfair.

The social media critic further disclosed that Eedie Bliss is reportedly scheduled to get married on Saturday, warning that he would involve his legal team if she is not released promptly.

“Dear Mercy Johnson, you cannot fight for the release of Sammy when Ned arrested him over defamation and later turn around to do the same thing with your husband,” VeryDarkMan said.

He added that if Mercy Johnson Okojie and her husband believe they were defamed, they should seek redress in court and refrain from what he described as the oppression of citizens through law enforcement.
