The win, which also saw goals from Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Franco Mastantuono, and an own goal from Thilo Kehrer, marked Madrid’s second triumph under new coach Alvaro Arbeloa and helped calm recent unrest among fans.

Mbappe opened the scoring within five minutes, slotting home after a Fede Valverde knock-on from Mastantuono’s cut-back.

He added a second before half-time following a corner orchestrated by Vinicius Junior and Leandro Trossard.

Vinicius, who had faced jeers during the previous weekend’s La Liga match against Levante, shone again with a brilliant goal and multiple assists, earning praise from teammates and fans alike.

“This is my Vinicius,” said teammate Tchouameni, celebrating the forward’s display.

Monaco pulled one back through Thilo Kehrer after Dani Ceballos’ mistake, but Madrid responded with Bellingham rounding the goalkeeper in the 80th minute to seal the emphatic scoreline.

Arbeloa praised his team after the match. “The players won this game with their effort and their quality,” he said.
