The incident occurred inward Lagos and led to heavy congestion stretching back to the Berger axis, as motorists struggled to find alternative routes into the city.

A correspondent travelling along the corridor observed that traffic movement slowed to a crawl, with stranded commuters forced to wait for hours.

The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the crash in a Facebook post, disclosing that a secondary accident occurred shortly after the initial incident.

According to the police, the overturned truck spilled its consignments across the road, covering about 90 per cent of the carriageway and severely restricting traffic flow.

“The second accident occurred directly behind the first crash, compounding traffic disruption in the area,” the statement said.

Emergency responders were immediately alerted, while motorists were advised to drive cautiously around the affected section.
