Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun declares February 3, 2026, a public holiday for the state’s 50th anniversary, urging citizens to celebrate in unity

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a public holiday to mark the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, who said the holiday would allow residents to fully participate in Golden Jubilee activities.

The milestone celebrates five decades of Ogun State’s political existence, steady growth, and contributions to Nigeria’s national development.

The government urged citizens to celebrate the occasion in an atmosphere of unity and peace, while reaffirming its commitment to building on past achievements and advancing the state’s development agenda.

Talabi added that the governor encouraged residents to take advantage of the holiday to actively engage in the events commemorating the Gateway State’s Golden Jubilee.
