Bolaji Akinyemi warns copying foreign political systems harms Nigeria, urging leaders to prioritize national interests over party politics

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Bolaji Akinyemi has cautioned that Nigeria’s adoption of foreign democratic models may be doing more harm than good.

He emphasized the need for a democratic system that truly reflects the Nigerian people, promotes unity, ensures stability, and encourages sustainable growth.

The former minister urged leaders to prioritize national interest above political ambitions, calling for a governance approach tailored to Nigeria’s unique cultural and societal context.
