Boko Haram Adamawa attack kills three soldiers and a civilian, destroying a military camp and school in Hong Local Government Area

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military camp in the Garaha District of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on Saturday, killing three soldiers and a fleeing civilian woman.

The attackers also razed a primary school and other key infrastructure during the assault, which followed a series of similar attacks in the region in recent months.

The incident occurred in the late morning when insurgents stormed the camp, firing sporadically and catching military personnel largely off-guard.

A witness, Isaiah Yerima, said the soldiers fought back bravely, but the attackers held the advantage.

The ambush came from the rear via the Lar axis, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers, while a civilian woman was killed by a stray bullet while attempting to flee.

The military and police have not responded to inquiries regarding the attack. However, both Usman Aliyu Wa’aganda, Chairman of Hong LGA, and Tol Alheri Nyako, the Hong paramount ruler, confirmed the incident.

The attack underscores the continuing security challenges in Adamawa State and highlights the persistent threat posed by insurgents in northern Nigeria.
