Gunmen attack Kubwa, Abuja, killing a vigilante and abducting multiple residents, including children, sparking fear across the community

Armed assailants attacked the Byazhin-Across community in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, on Monday night, killing a vigilante and abducting several residents.

The vigilante, identified as Sylvester, was shot after stepping out of a compound around 11:00 p.m. when the gunmen arrived, firing indiscriminately and causing panic among locals.

Among those abducted were four children of a pastor, the wife of a vigilante and her sister. A month-old baby was reportedly left behind. Another woman and a security officer were also kidnapped during the attack.

Two days later, suspected kidnappers returned to the area near Orange Farm, entering several homes and abducting more residents.

The repeated attacks have heightened fear in Kubwa, historically considered a peaceful community, as locals express concern over the increasing spate of kidnappings in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
