The Nigerian Senate begins screening Taiwo Oyedele for Minister of State for Finance, following President Bola Tinubu’s nomination

The Nigerian Senate commenced the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the position of Minister of State for Finance on Wednesday.

The session followed a motion by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele requesting Oyedele’s admission into the chamber.

He was led by Basheer Lado, arriving alongside government officials including Kayode Ajulo and Tokunbo Kayode.

President Bola Tinubu formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Oyedele, who will succeed Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.

In the same communication, Tinubu also nominated former Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The letters were read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary, marking the official commencement of the confirmation process.
