Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia urges North-Central Development Commission to collaborate on security, rural development, and agriculture initiatives

Hyacinth Alia has called for strengthened collaboration between the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC) and the Benue State Government.

Speaking at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia welcomed the commission’s board, led by Cosmos Akighir and Cyril Tseenyil, on a courtesy visit.

He emphasized that reducing insecurity and resettling residents from IDP camps remain top priorities.

“Most importantly, we are resolute that our people must go back to their ancestral homes. The people of Benue State deserve peace to continue to feed the nation,” Alia said.

He also highlighted the need for joint efforts in agriculture, employment, and rural infrastructure, noting that sustainable development requires support from NCDC.

Alia urged the commission to remain apolitical, stressing that introducing politics into sensitive development work undermines its core mission.
