The Nigerian striker was injured in the second-leg encounter after an aerial collision with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, forcing him to continue briefly with a heavily bandaged arm before being substituted at half-time due to increasing pain and swelling.

Galatasaray later confirmed that Osimhen underwent a successful operation on Monday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, with the procedure carried out by the club’s doctor, Yener İnce.

“Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue in our away match against Liverpool, underwent a successful operation,” the club said in a statement, wishing him a swift recovery.

The Osimhen surgery after Liverpool clash comes as a setback for Galatasaray, who suffered a 4-0 defeat on the night and exited the competition 4-1 on aggregate.

Despite the European disappointment, the Turkish side remain firmly in contention domestically, with Osimhen playing a pivotal role in their campaign.

The forward has delivered an impressive return of 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, helping Galatasaray maintain a four-point lead in the Super Lig title race.

He also contributed seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League outings prior to the club’s exit, underlining his importance in both domestic and continental fixtures.

Osimhen has been excluded from Nigeria’s 23-man squad for upcoming friendly matches against Jordan and Iran in Turkey as he begins his recovery process.
