Max Dowman leave Arsenal, warns Adrian Durham, as the TalkSPORT host says the young talent risks stagnation under Mikel Arteta

TalkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham has advised Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman to leave the Premier League club at the first opportunity during the summer transfer window, warning that the 16-year-old’s career could stagnate under manager Mikel Arteta.

Durham cited the career trajectory of Myles Lewis-Skelly as a cautionary example, highlighting how the young player has struggled to secure first-team opportunities under Arteta despite his potential.

“Max Dowman needs to leave Arsenal as soon as possible,” Durham said, as quoted by Metro UK.

“Dowman has seen Myles Lewis-Skelly’s career derailed by Mikel Arteta. He’s not even third choice left-back now – Hincapie and Calafiori are ahead of him.

He was a midfielder in the youth team and reached a Youth Cup final in midfield. So Max Dowman needs to take a look at these things and realise that he’s just another tick in Arteta’s box.”

Durham argued that Dowman’s future would be best served by pursuing opportunities elsewhere, both for his development and to continue his education while gaining regular football experience.

The young midfielder recently made headlines by scoring a late goal against Everton, helping secure a victory after being featured from the bench by Arteta.

Despite this promise, Durham warned that limited chances at Arsenal could hinder his progression.
