Alex Ekubo death has sparked emotional tributes across Nollywood as colleagues mourn the late actor known as “Ikuku.”

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, fondly known by colleagues and fans as “Ikuku.”

News of the actor’s passing triggered an outpouring of emotional tributes across social media platforms on Tuesday, with actors, filmmakers and entertainers describing him as kind-hearted, graceful and deeply supportive.

Actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli, who described Ekubo as her “bestie,” expressed shock and heartbreak over the development.

“I’m so upset! Who will help me fight death? This is too much! How are we supposed to move on? How do we say goodbye? I’m devastated. My bestie! Why? We had a plan! Where do I start from?” she wrote on Instagram.

Media entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of EbonyLife Group, Mo Abudu, also paid tribute to the late actor, recalling their close relationship and expressing regret over an unanswered message.

“We hadn’t spoken in a while. I remember you travelled last year and replied when you got back. I sent another message after that, and when you didn’t respond, I didn’t follow up. I never imagined there wouldn’t be another chance,” Abudu wrote.

“Dear Alex, you will be so deeply missed. You were such a beautiful human being, loving, real, kind, and always so respectful every single time we worked together.”

Veteran actress Kate Henshaw recalled how Ekubo supported her during the death of her mother two years ago.

“We chatted when I noticed your absence on SM, and you said you were fine. I wanted a chance to repay you for your kindness at that time, but not like this, Alex,” she wrote.

The Alex Ekubo death has continued to generate emotional reactions from colleagues who described the actor as someone who consistently reassured friends that he was doing well despite concerns about his wellbeing.

Actress Yvonne Jegede said she struggled to process the loss.

“I can’t process this. I checked on him, and he kept saying he was fine. It’s so sad. Are you telling me I will never see Ikuku again?” she wrote.

Actor Kunle Remi also shared his grief, describing Ekubo as “a good man.”

“This really hurts, bro! I checked on you…I still spoke about you yesterday,” Remi stated.

Actress Ruth Kadiri disclosed that she had regularly checked on the late actor because she feared such a day might come.

“I feared for this day, yet it finally came. Rest well, Alexxx,” she wrote.

Other entertainers, including Ini Dima-Okojie, Bucci Franklin, Dayo Amusa and Johnny Drille, also joined in mourning the late actor.

Dayo Amusa said her “heart feels so heavy” following the painful loss.

Ekubo’s death was announced on Tuesday by colleagues, including actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, who revealed that she had made efforts to see him before his passing.

The late actor was widely celebrated in Nollywood for his charm, talent and warm personality, earning admiration from colleagues and fans across the country.
