Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe Lottin admitted on, that his primary failing during the current campaign has been his inability to secure silverware for the Spanish giants.

The French international addressed the media at the Santiago Bernabeu following a 2-0 La Liga victory over Real Oviedo, a match in which the striker returned from a thigh injury as a second-half substitute.

The admission comes during a turbulent period for the 27-year-old, who was met with a chorus of whistles and jeers from sections of the home support upon his introduction in the 68th minute.

The hostile reception follows a controversial recovery period where the forward travelled to Italy while the club suffered a decisive El Clasico defeat to Barcelona, a result that officially ended the Madrid side’s hopes of a domestic league title.

Speaking in the post-match mixed zone, Kylian Mbappe insisted that his focus remained entirely on collective success rather than individual accolades or external criticism.

He noted that while he leads the scoring charts in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League this season, the absence of a major trophy for the second consecutive year remains a significant regret for the squad.

The forward also clarified the circumstances surrounding his recent absence, stating that his travel had been sanctioned by the club hierarchy despite the negative public perception.

Kylian Mbappe remarked that while fans are entitled to their opinions, the accusation that he lacked a desire to play for the “best club in the world” was the criticism that caused him the most personal distress.

Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who faces an uncertain future amid links with a return for Jose Mourinho, had initially started the striker on the bench alongside England international Jude Bellingham.

Goals from Gonzalo Garcia and Bellingham eventually secured the points against a relegated Oviedo side, though the victory was overshadowed by the visible tension between the star attacker and the Madrid faithful.
