AFCON 2027 qualification draw assistants include William Troost-Ekong as CAF confirms African legends for draw ceremony in Egypt

Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has been named among the draw assistants for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification draw, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Troost-Ekong will join a distinguished group of African football legends, including Max-Alain Gradel, Essam El Hadary and Trésor Mputu, for the official ceremony.

AFCON 2027 qualification draw assistants will take part in the event scheduled to be held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), with proceedings set to be broadcast live on CAF TV and across official social media platforms.

CAF confirmed that 48 countries, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will participate in the qualifiers, which will determine the teams for the continental tournament.

The teams will be drawn into 12 groups, with the top two sides from each group securing qualification for the final tournament.

The AFCON 2027 finals are scheduled to take place between 19 June and 17 July 2027, marking another major edition of Africa’s premier football competition.
