Nigerian players European trophy success: Osimhen, Iheanacho, Ucheibe and others win titles across Europe as NFF hails standout performances

Nigeria’s football community is celebrating a remarkable surge of success across Europe after several Super Eagles and Super Falcons players secured league titles, domestic cups, and promotion victories in a standout season that has drawn praise from the Nigeria Football Federation.

European trophy players success was highlighted by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, who commended the players for their achievements abroad, describing their performances as a source of national pride and a strong indication of the country’s competitive readiness ahead of international fixtures.

Speaking on the development, Ibrahim Gusau said the federation was delighted by the consistency of Nigerian players winning trophies across various leagues, noting that their form provides confidence for future national team engagements.

Among the headline contributors was Victor Osimhen, who led Galatasaray to the Turkish Super Lig title in a dominant campaign that underlined his attacking influence and consistency in front of goal.

In Portugal, Zaidu Sanusi celebrated success with FC Porto after lifting the Taça de Portugal, while Terem Moffi also featured in the club’s cup run following his loan involvement, adding depth to a strong Nigerian presence in Portuguese football.

Scotland also witnessed Nigerian success, with Kelechi Iheanacho playing a key role as Celtic FC secured a domestic league and cup double in his debut season, further strengthening his reputation on the European stage.

Elsewhere, Igoh Ogbu lifted the Czech First League title with Slavia Prague, while Francis Uzoho was part of the Omonia Nicosia squad that claimed the Cypriot First Division crown.

In England, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi contributed significantly as Hull City secured promotion to the Premier League following a dramatic Championship play-off victory.

The success extended to women’s football, where Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe enjoyed a trophy-filled season with SL Benfica, winning multiple domestic honours in Portugal.

In Italy, Shukurat Oladipo made a strong impression at AS Roma after joining from FC Robo Queens, earning recognition as Serie A Femminile’s best defender as the club clinched the league title. Rinsola Babajide also played a supporting role in Roma’s successful campaign, contributing goals and squad depth.
