Flamingos World Cup Qualifier preparation comes shortly after Akeem Busari’s side returned from a brief break following their commanding performance against Guinea in the previous round.

The team had earlier delivered a dominant 11-0 aggregate victory over Guinea, securing a 5-0 win in the first leg before sealing qualification momentum with a 6-0 triumph in the return fixture, a result widely described within football circles as emphatic and ruthless.

Their opponents, Young Amazons of Benin Republic, booked their place in the final qualifying stage after overcoming Sierra Leone 5-1 on aggregate, setting up a regional West African showdown with Nigeria.

Flamingos will host the first leg of the tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday, 5 July, before travelling to face Benin Republic in the return leg at Stade de Kegue in Lomé one week later.

The aggregate winner over the two legs will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled to take place from 17 October to 7 November 2026.

With preparations now back in full swing, the Nigerian side is expected to focus on tactical sharpening and squad cohesion as they aim to maintain their strong run in the qualifiers.
