The Nigeria Police Force has successfully prosecuted and secured the conviction of Abdussalam Muhammad and Aminu Mamman for terrorism-related offences and arms trafficking in Katsina State, highlighting strong commitment to national security

The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday celebrated a significant victory in the fight against terrorism and illicit arms proliferation after the Federal High Court in Katsina convicted two men, Abdussalam Muhammad and Aminu Mamman, on all counts in a major arms trafficking case.

The convictions followed a thorough investigation and prosecution that stemmed from a September 2025 operation by the Katsina State Police Command. Operatives intercepted the suspects along the Ingawa–Karkarku Road as they allegedly transported a large cache of prohibited weapons and ammunition.

Items recovered during the operation included one PKT machine gun, 230 rounds of PKT ammunition, 1,663 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm AK-47 ammunition, and the vehicle used to convey the exhibits.

The suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Federal High Court, Katsina Judicial Division, in Charge No. FHC/KT/84C/2025 on a five-count charge that included criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession and transportation of prohibited firearms and ammunition, rendering support to terrorists, and acts preparatory to terrorism.

The charges were brought under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Firearms Act.

After hearing witness testimonies and examining documentary and material evidence, the court found both men guilty on all five counts. Each convict received a five-year sentence on Count One and 20 years’ imprisonment on each of Counts Two to Five.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the investigators and prosecution team for their professionalism and dedication.

He reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism, curb the illegal movement of arms and ammunition, and ensure that those who threaten national security are held accountable through diligent investigation and successful prosecution.
