Tobi Amusan books her place in the 2026 Diamond League Final after an impressive season in the women’s 100m hurdles, finishing among the top contenders

World record holder Tobi Amusan has secured qualification for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final after producing a strong run of performances in the women’s 100m hurdles this season.

The Nigerian sprint hurdler earned her place in the season-ending championship after collecting 28 points from five Diamond League meetings, placing her second in the current standings.

The final is scheduled to take place on September 4 and 5 in Brussels, Belgium, where the leading athletes in the event will compete for the prestigious title.

Amusan currently trails American hurdler Masai Russell, who leads the standings with 32 points.

Both athletes are expected to continue their battle as the Diamond League season progresses through upcoming meetings in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the final.

Russell holds the fastest women’s 100m hurdles time of the year so far with 12.14 seconds, while Amusan’s season-best mark stands at 12.28 seconds, a time she has achieved on three occasions this season.

The Brussels final could see another major contest between the two leading performers, with Amusan targeting a fourth Diamond League crown after winning three consecutive titles from 2021 to 2023.

Amusan remains one of the most decorated athletes in the event. She holds the women’s 100m hurdles world record of 12.12 seconds, which she set during her historic victory at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States.
