Kano State Governor says President Bola Tinubu deserves overwhelming support in 2027, citing ongoing development projects and cooperation between Kano and the Federal Government
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Wednesday called on residents of the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the President has demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Yusuf made the remarks at the Government House in Kano while presenting a Certificate of Return to the newly elected member of the House of Representatives for Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, Shu’aibu Rabi’u Nagogo.
The governor’s position was conveyed in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Speaking at the event, Yusuf said the relationship between the Kano State Government and the Federal Government has continued to produce tangible benefits for residents, particularly through support for development and infrastructure projects.
“The people of Kano State have every reason to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Yusuf said.
“His commitment to the development of Kano and Nigeria at large has shown that he deserves overwhelming support from our people.”
The endorsement is notable given Kano’s strategic political importance and its status as one of Nigeria’s most populous states, often regarded as a key battleground in national elections.
According to the governor, cooperation between both levels of government has contributed to progress in several sectors and strengthened efforts aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
“We have seen clear support for key infrastructure and development projects in Kano. President Tinubu has demonstrated leadership and commitment to national unity, progress and the welfare of citizens,” Yusuf stated.
The governor also used the occasion to call for unity among political leaders, community stakeholders and supporters across the state, stressing that sustained collaboration with the Federal Government would further advance development objectives.
“I urge all political leaders, stakeholders and supporters across Kano State to remain united and committed to strengthening this partnership for the benefit of our people,” he said.
The comments come amid growing political conversations about alliances, governance performance and preparations for the 2027 elections, although major political parties are yet to formally commence campaign activities.
Beyond politics, Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining a productive working relationship with the Federal Government to accelerate development initiatives and improve living standards across Kano State.
The governor said continued cooperation would help facilitate the implementation of programmes designed to address critical needs in infrastructure, social services and economic development.
During the ceremony, Yusuf congratulated Shu’aibu Rabi’u Nagogo on his election victory and expressed confidence that the new lawmaker would effectively represent the interests of constituents in Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Federal Constituency.
He urged the representative-elect to remain focused on delivering quality representation and promoting initiatives that would improve the lives of the people.
The event was attended by government officials, political leaders and supporters, reflecting the significance attached to the constituency’s representation at the National Assembly.
As discussions around future political alignments continue to evolve, Yusuf’s endorsement of the President underscores the importance his administration places on sustaining cooperation between Kano State and the Federal Government.
The governor maintained that such collaboration remains essential for delivering meaningful development and ensuring that citizens benefit from government policies and programmes at both state and national levels.
