ADC dismisses court injunction report as fake news, clarifying no restraining order was issued against David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola

In a statement issued Thursday, September 11, 2025, National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the reports as “fake news” spread by “desperate political jobbers” bent on destabilizing the party.

The clarification followed rumors that a Federal High Court in Abuja had granted an injunction against the party’s leadership. Abdullahi explained that Justice Emeka Nwite, presiding over the case on September 4, declined an ex-parte application filed by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe.

Instead, the court directed that the defendants be put on notice and appear to show cause why the application should not be granted. The matter was adjourned to September 15.

“The ruling contained no restraining order against our current leadership. Those circulating otherwise are deliberately misrepresenting facts to confuse the public,” the ADC stated.

The party linked the false reports to opponents who had earlier failed in their attempt to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing its new leadership structure.

“The resort to fake news has become the last tactic of desperate political actors who, having failed with INEC, now attempt to mislead the public by misrepresenting court rulings,” the statement read in part.

The ADC urged journalists and the public to verify information before dissemination, warning that misinformation undermines democratic stability and public trust.
