Lookman’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since last summer, when he expressed a desire to join domestic rivals Inter Milan.

Atalanta initially blocked the move, citing a €50 million release clause and an agreement preventing transfers to other Serie A clubs.

With his former club Everton and several European sides still monitoring the forward, the Bergamo-based club has reduced their valuation, according to transfer specialist Ekrem Konur.

Lookman’s performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he scored three goals and provided four assists for Nigeria, underscore his continued quality and attacking threat.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of Lookman but have yet to make formal contact with Atalanta or the player’s representatives.

Turkish champions Galatasaray have also explored signing him, although no concrete agreement has been reached despite discussions with compatriot Victor Osimhen.

Despite Atalanta’s reluctance to sell to Serie A rivals, reigning champions Napoli have intensified talks with the club in a bid to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Aston Villa reportedly declined opportunities to sign Lookman, leaving Atalanta to weigh the benefits of a reasonable sale against the risk of losing a key player on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old forward has recorded 55 goals and 27 assists in 136 appearances for Atalanta and rose to prominence in May 2024 when his hat-trick secured the club’s first UEFA Europa League title.
