Aero Contractors MRO showcases upgraded aviation maintenance services at Kigali Summit, attracting interest from regional and global operators

Aero Contractors MRO showcased its enhanced aviation maintenance capabilities at the just-concluded Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition in Kigali, Rwanda, earning praise from industry leaders and potential partners across the continent.

Nigeria’s oldest aviation firm used the high-profile platform to position its Lagos-based Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility as a regional hub for efficient, cost-saving, and reliable aircraft servicing.

Engr. James Ominyi, Head of Aero’s Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO), confirmed that interest from African and international operators was significant.

“Our improved capabilities and ongoing upgrades are attracting attention from airlines looking to cut costs and turnaround times by conducting heavy maintenance checks within Africa,” he stated.

The Aero delegation included top management, such as Chief Financial Officer Mr Charles Grant, Technical Director Engr. Emmanuel Adeyeye, and MRO Business Development Manager Mr Adeyemi Adewojo, alongside other senior engineering leads.

With backing from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Aero Contractors MRO has been undergoing major expansions. Its Lagos facility now offers a wide array of services, including:

1.  Line and base maintenance for Boeing 737 Classic and NG
2.  Scheduled and unscheduled checks for regional jets, turboprops, and helicopters
3.  Full helicopter maintenance, including the AW139
4.  Specialised workshops for avionics, wheels, brakes, upholstery, batteries, and structural repairs

Many of these units are currently being upgraded to meet EASA certification standards, aiming to serve a wider global client base.

The MRO facility is already certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), with regulatory endorsements from Ghana, Senegal, and Mongolia.

Its clientele includes airlines such as PassionAir (Ghana), Transair (Senegal), Royal Air Maroc, and offshore oil and gas operators.

Chief Financial Officer Charles Grant highlighted Aero’s renewed mission: “With over six decades of aviation heritage, Aero is building on its legacy to serve the next generation of African operators. Our upgraded MRO is a clear signal that Africa has the expertise and infrastructure to sustain its aviation industry locally—saving costs, creating jobs, and retaining value on the continent.”
