Through its Joint Secretariat Support Office, the AfDB provided technical and financial support for the fifth annual workshop focused on harnessing artificial intelligence for improved monitoring, evaluation, and reporting under Agenda 2063’s Second Ten-Year Plan (2024–2033).

Agenda 2063 is the African Union’s flagship blueprint to transform Africa into a global powerhouse, rooted in unity, self-determination, and inclusive development.

Held in Lusaka, Zambia, the five-day training was co-organised by the African Union Commission and the African Capacity Building Foundation, gathering representatives from AU member states to explore how emerging AI tools can enhance results-based national planning.

Participants received hands-on training in AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Ailyse, Google AI Studio, and Perplexity — all geared toward improving data analysis, evidence-based policymaking, and resource efficiency in line with Agenda 2063 priorities.

Abibu Tamu, Lead Programme Coordinator at the AfDB Group, highlighted the Bank’s strong commitment to Agenda 2063’s success, stating:

“These tools are not only revolutionising how data is collected, analysed, and reported, but they are also enabling more targeted policy interventions and efficient resource allocation.”
