Sevilla striker Akor Adams says it’s a shame Nigeria didn’t win AFCON 2025, reflecting on his goals, assists, and experience with the Super Eagles

Sevilla striker Akor Adams has expressed regret that Nigeria did not win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Morocco, despite the Super Eagles securing a bronze medal.

Adams played a pivotal role throughout the tournament, scoring two goals and providing two assists in seven appearances.

Nigeria defeated Egypt on penalties in the third-place playoff to claim the bronze.

“I think my confidence was already good. But playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria was a great privilege, something I am very grateful for,” Adams told Marca, as quoted by Estadio Deportivo.

The striker added: “I was able to play every match and experience the whole thing. It’s a shame we could not win the tournament, but it was a very important step in my career.”

Adams’ performance has further cemented his reputation as a key player for the Super Eagles, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s success at the biennial tournament.
