Akwa Ibom armed robbers arrest has delivered a significant blow to a notorious robbery syndicate terrorizing residents of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

Police operatives launched a successful raid on the gang’s hideout in Ikot Osong, Obot Akara LGA, early on August 8, apprehending seven suspects.

The hideout reportedly doubled as a shrine where the criminals fortified themselves before attacks.

The operation followed the neutralization of one gang leader and the capture of the overall leader hiding in Imo State, whose confession helped police pinpoint the base.

Recovered items include a locally made double-barrel gun, ammunition, motorcycles, face masks, police and army caps, and suspected charms. Investigations continue to recover stolen goods and arrest other gang members at large.

DSP Timfon John reaffirmed the Akwa Ibom Police Command’s dedication to ensuring safety and security for all residents, emphasizing ongoing efforts to curb violent crimes in the region.
