Alex Otti political future: PFN Abia State chapter urges governor to remain active in politics beyond his second term, pledging full support for his administration

The leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has advised Governor Alex Otti not to retire from politics after completing his second term in 2031, urging him to allow the public to decide his political future.

The message was delivered through the immediate past State Chairman, Archbishop Dr Chikezie Elekwa, during a courtesy visit to the governor’s office on Tuesday. Archbishop Elekwa stressed that Otti’s impact on Abia State warranted continued political engagement.

“Some time ago, we heard you said that after your second term, you would go out of politics. Please, Your Excellency, don’t just decide on that. Let the public, let the people decide it,” Archbishop Elekwa said.

The church also assured the governor that he would not need to campaign for the 2027 elections, as the PFN is mobilising grassroots support on his behalf.

Archbishop Elekwa credited Otti with transforming Abia State, citing improvements in governance and development.

“We sincerely thank God for your life and everything He has used you to do in our state. We’ve never had it this good. God answered Abians’ prayers by giving us a gift in your person,” he said.

Governor Otti thanked the PFN leadership for their prayers, support, and encouragement, acknowledging the church’s role in his political journey since 2015.

He encouraged people of faith to engage actively in governance while noting that leadership decisions must align with divine direction.

“As humans, we may have our own thoughts about when to step aside. But ultimately, we cannot speak when the Lord has not spoken,” Otti said.

The meeting was attended by top government officials, including Chief of Staff Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission Pastor Eno Jerry Eze, SSA on Religious Matters Apostle Kenneth Wiper, and Director General of the Strategic Communication Bureau Onyebuchi Ememanka.
