The industrialist, who founded and served as Chairman of the Board, has stepped down to concentrate on his ambitious petroleum refinery project.

The announcement was made by the Group Chief, Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement released Friday.

Chiejina confirmed that Dangote’s decision to retire was intentional and strategic, aimed at ensuring full attention to the operations of the multi-billion-dollar Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Following his exit, the board appointed Emmanuel Ikazoboh, an independent non-executive director, as the new Chairman.

Aliko Dangote retires from Dangote Cement at a time when the company remains a dominant force in the African construction sector. His leadership has shaped it into a powerhouse, contributing significantly to infrastructure growth across the continent.
