Barcelona enter talks for Anthony Gordon transfer as Arsenal and Bayern Munich compete for the Newcastle winger in a shocking summer twist

Anthony Gordon has become the subject of intense transfer interest as FC Barcelona open direct negotiations with Newcastle United over a potential summer move, in a development confirmed on Tuesday, May 27, 2026.

The 23-year-old winger has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich, setting up a competitive race for his signature ahead of the transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit, with sporting director Deco travelling to the United Kingdom to initiate discussions with Newcastle United.

According to Romano, the Spanish giants have already made contact at club level, while the player is understood to be open to the move amid growing interest from multiple European clubs.

“Barcelona are in direct club to club talks with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon,” Romano wrote on X.

“The player’s keen on the move but more clubs are also on it. This was the reason of Deco’s mission to the UK,” he added.

Anthony Gordon transfer Barcelona pursuit is now expected to develop further in the coming weeks, with Newcastle United yet to make a final decision on the winger’s future.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu surprised his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, with flowers before sharing a kiss with her at the opening ceremony of the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference in Lagos on Tuesday.

The event was organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) under the theme, “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint.”

Sanwo-Olu presented the flowers to his wife during his speech at the conference, which brings together women and leaders for discussions and activities focused on women’s empowerment and leadership.

“On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you, we want to honour you,” the governor said.

The couple subsequently shared a kiss as Nigerian singer 2Baba’s song, “African Queen”, played at the event.

The conference aims to inspire women, empower leaders and promote a purposeful future through discussions and activities centred on women’s development.
