The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the Osun State governorship election, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will on Monday, August 3, 2026, preside over the inaugural meeting of the party’s campaign council ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The meeting, scheduled for 3pm at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge on Jose Marti Street in Asokoro, Abuja, marks the formal beginning of the APC’s coordinated campaign efforts as the party seeks to strengthen its position in the crucial Osun contest.

A notice issued by the APC National Campaign Council invited all members of the council to attend the meeting.

The notice was jointly signed by Uzodimma and Barau in their respective capacities as chairman and secretary of the council.

“All members of the National Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress for the Osun State Governorship Election are invited to the meeting of the council,” the notice said.

“The meeting is scheduled to hold on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro at 3:00 p.m.”

The planned gathering comes barely a week after the APC constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council to coordinate its efforts for the election.

The size of the council underscores the importance the ruling party has attached to the Osun contest as it works to wrest control of the state from the Accord Party.

The inauguration meeting is expected to provide the first opportunity for members of the campaign council to align their strategies, define their roles and establish a coordinated approach for the final phase of the election campaign.

With the poll only days away, the APC faces the challenge of converting its extensive campaign structure into electoral support across the state.

Uzodimma’s appointment as chairman brings a serving governor with electoral experience to the centre of the party’s campaign machinery, while Barau’s role as secretary places a senior federal lawmaker at the heart of the council’s coordination.

The partnership is expected to give the campaign council a strong political presence as the APC intensifies its efforts to secure victory in the August 15 poll.

The Osun election is attracting considerable attention within the APC as the party seeks to expand its influence in the South-West and consolidate its position ahead of the broader political contests that will follow.
