Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa has defended Kylian Mbappé’s right to spend his personal time freely while recovering from injury, insisting that the club maintains full control over his rehabilitation process.

Álvaro Arbeloa stated that all injured players at Real Madrid are closely monitored by the medical department, which designs structured recovery programmes for each individual case.

He explained that while training and rehabilitation are strictly managed, players are not restricted in how they use their free time outside club duties.

“All the injured players are monitored, and the medical staff plans everything. In his free time, any player can do what he wants. I don’t get involved,” Álvaro Arbeloa said, according to reports attributed to Fabrizio Romano.

Kylian Mbappé has recently attracted public attention after being spotted on holiday during his recovery period, sparking debate among fans and pundits over his commitment.

However, Álvaro Arbeloa’s comments suggest there are no internal concerns at Real Madrid regarding the French forward’s professionalism or attitude toward rehabilitation.

The coach also addressed Mbappé’s potential return for the upcoming El Clásico, stating that the final decision on his availability would depend on medical evaluations expected later in the week.

“We will have an answer this week,” he added, leaving the door open for a possible return in time for the high-profile fixture.

Álvaro Arbeloa also praised Vinícius Júnior, commending his consistency and leadership qualities within the squad.

“I’m always grateful to Vini for the effort he puts in. I’m proud to have him as a player. He was very dangerous, smart, a leader,” he said.
